This is a really cool idea! I've wondered about this before. I'm the kind of person that will start to like a song just because of its music video and what not... pictures and music really make a connection in my head.
I think your additions are also really good ideas, the ambient lighting especially. I do have a question for you though. How will you work the timing? Will the entire song play and the painting display for that amount of time, or will it be for like a set maybe 1 minute interval? Either ways have their pros and cons I guess. Music changing all the time might get annoying but having one painting stationary for so long also defeats the purpose.
I really liked your idea about having a sensor detecting the amount of people because volume was another one of my questions, it would be really weird if there was a group ofpeople and then this frame blasting over everyone hahaha.
All in all though, this was a really interesting expansion and if you ever get to working on it.... let me know! I'll definitely approve :) hahaha.

Is the music you played Beethoven Moonlight Sonata?I love that song!
Okay,this time I love your idea because I always don't understand why people made digital photo frame!I feel like who will even have time to look photos! Now,you give me a reason to buy this.If photo frame can match music,it will be more fun in party!People can use wireless share their pictures from travel by wireless to frame and frame can automatically match the musica and people can share story of traveling!
It's so good you even have the idea of the tech that can implement this device!
Don't afraid you don't have knowledge now.Now you do know what kinds of tech may used and you can study it for four years!
So,can you just develope an application run on iPad or other tablet?Because iPad is big enough also it will be so convenient to bring it anywhere.
